Johnson Tiles v Esso Australia [2003] VSC 27

Facts: Esso operated various off-shore platforms, pipelines and facilities in a site in Victoria which processed oil and gas brought in from Bass Strait. Gas was transported to the site by underground pipelines and processed. The gas was then transferred from the site to the Gas and Fuel Corporation of Victoria and its successor, Gascor, which distributed it to customers. A series of explosions and a fire occurred at the Victorian site, and the gas supply was stopped for a day.
