Robinson v Kilvert (1889) 41 ChD 88

Facts: Defendant (D) let out the upper floor of his property to the plaintiff (Pl), knowing Pl intended to store paper and twine in the property. However, Pl did not inform D that he intended to use the floor to store a special kind of brown paper vulnerable to heat. D began using the basement for manufacturing, which increased the temperature, causing damage to the paper. Pl sued for private nuisance.
