Woods v Multi-Sport Holdings Pty Ltd (2002) 76 ALJR 483

Facts: The plaintiff (Pl) (Woods) was injured in a sporting premises while playing cricket and lost 99% of vision. Pl sued defendant (D) (MSHs) for negligence (failing to provide a helmet or goggles or to warn about potential eye injury). Pl wanted the court to take notice of facts about how common these eye injuries were in sporting events i.e. it is becoming a public health problem and we should impose a higher standard of care on organisations that host these events.
